All India Devanga Maha Sabha gets under way

All India Devanga Maha Sabha was inaugurated by Hampi Hemakoota Peetadhipati Swami Sri Dayananda Puri at Arts College grounds here on Friday. Hundreds of Devanga community representatives from seven States attended the meeting. The inaugural session was marked by Ganapati homam, goddess Chowdeswari Devi pooja and other rituals. Speaking on the occasion, Swami Sri Dyananda Puri called upon the Devanga community members to be united to achieve their demands. He said the community was in dire straits because of backwardness and lack of support from the government.
General secretary of the Maha Sabha Kalepu Satyanarayanasaid they would bring the problems being faced by Devanga community to the notice of the Opposition and ruling party leaders. He said the government should come forward to help them by increasing the pension amount and also supporting the weavers by announcing more packages. MLA Chandana Ramesh, Bommana Rajkumar, and Karnataka unit in-charge HK Govindappa were among those present at the meeting.
